trekking all about Awana

hehehe! hugging my beloved Kiki (mah shih tzu!) as i type this. he's wrapped in a blanket, another one of our practical jokes =D do all shih tzus have an attitude or is it just mine yea?? have to ask =.=

(just fought him off the keyboard, attention-HOGGER!) so as my post title imposes, this post is about the second day of our MoFe 2.0!
After having breakfast at the World Club Lounge again - yum this time we could properly enjoy the food there, plus i brought loverboy - we had to take the ten thirty bus down to Awana Resort midhill. (not bad we were taught time management too indirectly as we had to take the shuttle ourselves, quite fun, ahhaa!)

THE destination
Once there, our luggage were put on hold and the reason why we were asked to wear t shirts and shorts (basically, lightweight clothing) was exposed --- we were going jungle trekking! almost 2 kilometres if i remember correctly x.x
AND it was going to be a blood-leech-mosquito love triangle. uuurgh.
BUT WE WERE GOING IN PREPARED! (thanks to Watsons, one of our sponsors!)

our very own FIRST AID KIT!
mosquito repelling patches! first time trying one

stick it on! your arms, legs, even jeans or shirts!
by the time we were done all of us looked like some Bersih 1.5 team going into the wood, yellow stickers everywhere, hahahaah!
bersih-like? i hope not! Xp
i even saw someone with it on in a ring around her ankle too, as a precaution against leeches Xp the patches have a strong herb medicine smell, but according to Adam it attracted the leeches >.<
following are the pictures my awesome teammate Rian took with the JV300 Fujifilm camera (mine was left with loverboy when he went to check in! we weren't allowed to sigh)

a longhouse that we passed by before entering the forest!

something you don't see in KL! *CREEPED OUT

see how deep we're in???

After two hours of mentally, physically, and psychologically exhausting trekking (yeap, checking for leeches every ten seconds and plucking them off one by one does that to you), we were OUT!

First thing we did was to sit on the path on the golfcourse, throw down everything you have, and starting checking for leeches AND bandaging the neverending stream of blood from wounds (word of note: next time, bring salt or saltwater).

Accident or not huh??
Picture taken from Hanis' blog!
i can imagine that we looked like a bunch of car crash victims to the one aunty and uncle playing golf, but we DID clap and whistle when they hit the ball! (probably thought we were hooligans x.x)

winning pose after the trek! lovely ladies aren't we =))))
Afterwards was our long-deserved LUNCH! Served at Rajawali Restaurant in the resort itself , hehe!
i guess most of us just sank to the seats in exhaustion and numbness.

beautiful view, though!
enjoying my Alice in Wonderland lunch

all the cakes and jellies! yum!
Mr No-Way!
last challenge before we set off for absailing
Another round of walking up the same path to the activity center where we would go for absailing *terrified, i mean i DID do all these in high school lah, but it has been so long! *knees trembling and squeaking

the emperor and empress of Absailing Land
they laid it out so nicely for us!
how come in high school camp don't have wan
spot me sexily checking my harness *ahem ahem
The key is to have the harness tight around your waist and hips so that you will be snugly harnessed for maximum gliding impact and minimum accident rate (i made that up)

that's me inching down slowly =D
The challenge was to get down ASAP and the fastest team wins! by this time we were all too jaded to really compete so the best of us merely took out own sweet time. Hear that, Mr Kiasu-Adam?? *wink

Lastly again, BEFORE we were allowed to check out, we had to post or twit or blog about the day's events! everybody just posted a picture on Facebook cuz they were too tired x.x x.x x.x

Mokky summore go pose nicely here, not tired ah?

Hanis and moi =)

the Yes huddle loaned to us again! Thanks to Yes 4g
my rooooom! my beautiful, beautiful, ROOOOM!! finally!
but i only got to enjoy the suite for a little while, just to bathe and then let loverboy bandage my FIVE leech wounds that wouldn't stop bleeding x.x even the bandage itself was covered with crusting blood already by the time i got back.

lovely kitchen and living area!

you can peek into mah rooooom <3
i just LOVE their designs, gonna have it ncorporated into my dream house! literally DREAM house, cause i dreamt of it one night and it was so clear (it has glass corridors upstairs so i can watch my future kids if they suddenly go sleep walking!)

After the hour or so of preparation for dinner, we were dressed again in our Wrangler tee and jeans! (i.m staring right at the paperbag now btw in my room)
Dinner at Pasar Ikan Bakar past the longhouse at Awana, if you want to replicate this experience, remember to call ahead and book in advance! like the name hints, they serve grilled fish and a variety of meats =D

comfy Arabian-like theme for dinner!
everyone having a great time

see? it can be comfy and classy at the same time *astounded
from left: Mr No-Way, Ms. Seriously, me

and the closing ceremony starts on a good pitch!

me and Rian receiving our certs and vouchers =D

lalalalala <3

this is us jumping! hehhee, too bad babycam can't capture
it properly
Mokky the lovely who took me in for awhile
that night <3
Mr Hu Boon! guess how old he is

CHEERS!
A list of all our sponsors: Wrangler, Crocs, Kinderdljk, yes, Travel for all, Fujifilm, Watsons, and Genting!
a huge thank you =D

P.S. just finished the book "I've got your Number" by Sophie Kinsella, thought that it would be a trashy chick lit, but it was really good! heart-warming and lovely, read it! <3

LED facial at Bizzy Body!

yeap all the busy bodies like me go to Bizzy Body wan lah *pause for you to smile awkwardly at my lame joke

currently in the middle of finals and what to i do? go to Genting for 4 days, come back and go for facial, then now im blogging..anything just to avoid studying! hahhaha procastination in full =D

so anyways on Saturday me and sistah Charis went to Bizzy Body at The Mines for a LED facial (according to the Groupon details it was inspired by NASA technology!! and i was sold).

well the service was quite good, like a normal facial lahh-chitchatting with the girl who did my face, getting quizzed about my daily routine (have GOT TO start drinking more water and sleeping early lah), getting stabbed in the face repeatedly for detoxing x.x, and the cold slabs of masks on the face, etc.

before we went in we were required to change into kimono-style robes with this sarung like cloth underneath, and as i was wearing a dress i was given pants as well under the sarung (but it was too loose, i'm too thin *secretly happy but show T.T face*)

the most interesting part was the LED mask lah obviously. after the detoxing and repairing the LED machine was dragged into the room (i heard it only cuz my eyes was covered) and then the girl slapped on black goggles for me and the mask was strapped to my head. well i couldn't see anything so i assume it's strapped on! but it fels like wearing a helmet lahh.

and then you wait there while the light rays does it's work for ten minutes. apparently it's function is to kill all the bacteria underneath your skin so that you will have awesome pretty skin wan. so while you're waiting all you can see is purple light, and when you blink you can see the blood capillaries across your eyes!
yeap i was too bored, experimented blinking and blinking and blinking all the while during the ten minutes =D *ADHD

then as usual after the facial you get bugged to buy their products and sign up for a package and all -.- sigh why do they HAVE to do that, can't i just go ONCE? so after rejecting and rejecting. the idea is to repeat "i'm a student, i have no money" to them. so i got out in one piece-ish (gave them extra RM100 for the detox, sigh.)

owh well, smooth skin now what *wink

CHEERS!

p.s. and back to studying i go.

Research on Awana Genting

Research question: Has there ever been weird or scary incidents at Awana Genting?

Hypothesis: Yes.

Research venue: Awana Genting

Stay period: 19-20 July

y u so long wan

ahhahaaha the title sounds so misleading right.
anyways i have always thought Awana Genting was relatively safe (meaning no ghosts there) seeing as there's the Temple so nearby right? well i was wrong.

Before dinner that night i was chatting with Tiffany while waiting for the van to arrive and drop us off at the Pasar Ikan for dinner (awesome place btw the ambience is very very good), so i was telling her i had to sleep alone cuz loverboy left already to KL. but she was all like "no lah so far there has never been any incidences in Awana", everything that we heard or all the rumours only came from Genting Highlands aka First World area above us.

and also my temple theory lahh, so i thought we were all safe and happy. yayyy!

After dinner (i made arrangements with Yen Ling to sleep in her room) i went back to my room on the first floor. You have to understand that in Awana the rooms are not aboveground (ie above the lobby). they are underground. meaning that you take the lift DOWN instead of up to your rooms. like this.

So i was at the first floor and everybody else at the 6th T-T
and i dunno why all our rooms were at the end of the corridor. so you have to walk along the corridor until the end where your room is.

WHY AWANA IS SCARY:

1. long, quiet corridors
i didn't know how scary it was until i walked back to my room alone after dinner, i was the only one at the first floor so i plodded tiredly to my room. squish squish squish squish, said my shoes. after walking a few steps i felt SO SCARED ALREADY. the feeling like someone was watching you? and the hair on your arms are all standing and freakily weird and all the sounds around you are amplified ten times? that feeling.

So i was too cowardly to even turn around and see what was there so i just scurried to the end of the corridor *freaked out to the max*, expecting to feel safe when i get into my cuddly, warm, cozy room. i slot the card inside, and went into my room and closed the door behind me with a breath of relief.

love the design by the way

corridor from entrance

bathroom!

the awesome shower room,
i miss it already

see me? <3

THEN the quiet hit me. like literally, in the gut or something. if i said that the corridor was scary just now, it just got to a whole new level after i got into the room.

Ending of this story? packed my overnight bag, called loverboy and chatted all the while pretending everything was fine (even in the lift to the sixth floor) and into Mokky's room.
if you think this is normal and i was overreacting, i shall tell you that EVERYONE, everyone that i talked to, felt exactly the same when they walked alone to their rooms.

2. mirrors
WHY are there so many mirrors in the suites? In mine not so many lah, but in the rooms at 6th floor there's one at the entrance of the suite, one in the bathroom, one in the shower (why lah you need to watch yourself shower meh?), one acting as the wardrobe doors (yes delightedly facing you when you sleep), one at the dressing table, and one whole stretch as the wall in the living area -.-

6 HUGE mirrors in less than 800sqft. WHY.

3. the noises we heard.
Yen Ling heard crying sounds when we were talking about ghost stories.
Rayyan and Hu Boon heard singing when in their rooms.
Red pen (hahah in english, she's Pen Merah) heard the pattering of feet outside the bedroom (yes IN her suite).

4. one freaky incident (to be taken lightly?)
when we were dishing out everything we heard this morning at the Rajawali restaurant, (we didn't discuss them last night. not mentioned at all.) and we were going on and on again about what we had experienced before, the lights above our table flickered twice. the ones ONLY above our table.

5. the door with no number?
On the sixth floor there is a stretch of doors without the card keys slot to open them. they use key holes. and one of this such doors has no number. go figure.

used to have one there. see the edges?
6. lack of stories or records on Google
yes i googled the door and any scary stories. there are NONE.
okay i said it to be dramatic, there are a couple of stories but none as how we experienced lah.
so i am wondering why. go figure also.

As im typing this now i feel abit spooked out already. owh well, lights off and bedtime.
wish me a good night's sleep with sweet dreams?

she reminds me of Debbie Lee,
that's why we can click i guess!
missing her dah.
