Being the last venue for out Genting Oriental Cuisine, of course it went out with a
bang!
This
time, lunch was served at Happy Valley Seafood Restaurant, a nice and
cozy dining place whose entrance is located right next to the hotel
counter in Hotel Theme Park.
The restaurant is the only one in Genting that provides fresh seafood, as soon as one enters the place one's sight is immediately captured by the rows and rows of sea creatures swimming about in the tanks located at the end of the restaurant - prawns, lobsters, fishes, and crabs! *salivating just thinking about it*

Menu for the day |
The first dish served was the Steamed Oysters with Minced Garlic. Not a fan of garlic myself, i was shocked when the oysters came totally COVERED in garlic! managed to scrape most of them away, haha! However, i find that it tastes nice with a hint of garlic as it covers the seafood taste and somehow enhances the soft flesh of the oyster. Garlic lovers will definitely be taken with this dish!
Manyak garlic!! |
Tian Chad took a pic of me wolfing the whole thing down, uuurgh he took lots of funny pics of me! i somehow forget myself when i eat food, haha i get greedy =D
everyone taking pics of the food before eating |
Next we were served Plain Poached Grass Prawn. Basically it's just prawns that were poached without any other garnishings or taste enhancers. So what happens is that you can bite into the fresh supple prawn meat and enjoy the original taste of prawns!
nothing other than prawns! |
after deshelling the prawns you dip it into this simple soy sauce, and that's the only seasoning we get. According to Chloe (from the Wisma Genting team), they are actively trying to get more people to eat healthy so most of the food here are not heavily seasoned. Furthermore this is the only restaurant up here that provides fresh seafood, yum!
prawn cocktail, hahaha |
Steamed Sea Garoupa with Soya Sauce. You may think that this one is simple and nothing much to brag about, but it is simply
exquisite. the fact that most of the fish was gone in a matter of minutes helps to underline how delicious this dish is, hehehe.
Fish fresh from the, er, aquarium =) |
Boston Lobster with Superior Stock! i guess i don't have to elaborate on how fresh the lobster is, you get it already Xp We were had to be cajolled and threatened to eat it all as most of us were already eagerly waiting for the next dish, hahahha!
it looks like crab but i assure you it's lobster! |
This one is definitely yummy and scrumpli-cious!! Sashimi Geoduck, it is served with a bubbling pot of herbal soup so one can eat it sashimi style or dip it into the soup for a few seconds and eat it cooked. i prefer eating it cooked, hehe although Daniel managed to con most of us to have the inner parts raw. i shall not relive the experience by describing it. let's just leave it at slimy, hahahah.
from left to right there's the tail, the head and the internals |
the busy chef who popped out to teach us about geoduck! |
After vanquishing the sashimi we were served Chili Crab served with Deep-fried Mantou. the mantou was awesome! fried on the outside and freshly soft on the inside, it's best to eat it hot and piping. *drools* however dipping it in the Chili Crab sauce is like Yau Char Gui and Soya Bean Soup, Peanut butter and jelly, Coke and ice, etc...it's a perfect match!
this IS crab, hahahha! |
the awesome mantou <3 someone dapau it for me? |
mmmmmmm~ |
This is the Stir-fried Siput Cangrad with Dried Shrimp & Chili Padi. i ate only a few of this, nothing much to shout about, though. Tastes normal, hehe.
see all the siput? |
not to forget the vegetables! Four Season Vegetables, i guess they wanted it to be a balanced meal for all of us, with veggies included also!
i ate only two of the vegetables. Guess which two? |
Mixed Fruits Platter! loved the Mangoooooo |
Afterwards i went about the aquariums to look for the Geoduck before it is actually all cut up, it looks like this! no wonders where it got the name from, then!
Geoduck |
Snow crab, we didn't eat this though! |
rows and rows of seafood |

Last but not least,
